In 2012, from February 27 to March 3, Perforacije will be present at the DañsFabrik festival, in Brest, France, with the Contrefugue program. The festival is produced and presented at Le Quartz, one of France’s most important and relevant theaters having been tasked with the duties of a National Theater, Scène Nationale in French, in 2001. Le Quartz excels for its contemporary performing arts program and for their engagement in the democratization of access to the arts and culture.

Zvonimir Dobrovic, Perforacije’s director and Contrefugue’s curator, says of the artists being presented, many for the first time in France, that they are “shaking things up, challenging the formats in which they work and experimenting with their own methods.”

The program is intended to draw a defined but not self-contained panorama of the contemporary performing arts in the Balkans, with artists from Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Macedonia. All of them are already recurrent from Perforacije Festival’s programming, and realizes the event’s intention of becoming a hub for the dissemination of the local contemporary arts scene abroad.

Physical Theater balkans’ style

Contrefugue heavily presents body based performances, with many common traits to physical theatre, due to its challenging format and open possibilities of exploitation of scenic relationships and innovation.

Igor Josifov, Ivo Dimchev, Matija Ferlin and Via Negativa are the artists that have based their artistic research on the body itself, drawing parallels between their bodies’ geography and that of their acts. This physicality enables a privileged place in which the body becomes the space of thought and aesthetical relationships in which the hermeneutic and interpretation are relativized to open up possibilities but also closures.

Petra Kovacic has already become a fixture at the Perforacije Festival in all of its flavors. She has been present at the festival’s first edition in 2009 with her piece Act(ing) and at the New York edition in 2011 with this same piece. Also in 2011 she was part of the festival’s Night of Performances, with the much-acclaimed performance Reflections. She will show both of these pieces, produced by Perforacije, for the first time in France. Her work is plastic, on the border of performance-art and visual arts. Installations that are moment based and therefore performative, in which the movements and dramaturgy take place to shape interpretation while leaving open a whole world of possibilities – just like good art do.

Room100 is the circus duo Jakov Labrovic and Antonia Kuzmanic, that have already been celebrated in France for their innovation and contemporary take on the arts of circus. Their performance, C8H11N02, builds on the subjectivity of people living with mental disabilities like schizophrenia and makes a political point of showing one of the interviews they did during their extensive process of research.

Festival Perforacije će gostovati od 27. veljače do 3. ožujka 2012. na DañsFabrik festivalu u Brestu, Francuska, s programom Contrefugue.

Festival će biti produciran i predstavljen u Le Quartzu, jednom od najrelevantnijih kazališta u Francuskoj, koje je imalo zadaću i dužnosti Nacionalnog Kazališta, Scène Nationale , na francuskom, 2001. godine.

Le Quartz se ističe sa svojim programom suvremenih izvedbenih umjetnosti isto kao i sa angažmanom u demokratizaciji pristupa umjetnosti i kulturi.

Zvonimir Dobrović, umjetnički ravnatelj Perforacija i selektor programa Contrefugue, kaže za umjetnike od kojih će mnogi po prvi puta biti prezentirani u Francuskoj, da će ”malo protresti stvari, postavljajući nove izazove formatu u kojem rade i eksperimentirati sa vlastitim metodama”.

Namjera samog programa je pokazati definiranu, ali ne i cjelovitu, sliku suvremenih izvedbenih umjetnosti na Balkanu, s umjetnicima iz Hrvatske, Bugarske, Slovenije i Makedonije. Svi umjetnici su već bili dio programa prijašnjih Perforacija, dok je namjera ovog događaja da postane središte za širenje i razumijevanje suvremene umjetničke scene u inozemstvu.

Tjelesno kazalište – balkanski stil

Program Contrefugue stavlja naglasak na performanse bazirane na tijelu performera, sa mnogim zajedničkim točkama s tjelesnim kazalištem, no više postavljanjem izazova formatu u kojem se izvodi i otvorenim mogućnostima korištenja scenskih odnosa i inovacije.

Igor Josifov, Ivo Dimchev, Matija Ferlin i Via Negativa su umjetnici koji su bazirali svoja umjetnička istraživanja na samom tijelu kao objektu izvedbe, povlačeći paralele između geografija njihovih tijela i same izvedbe. Ta tjelesnost omogućuje privilegiran prostor gdje tijelo postaje prostor misli i estetskih odnosa u kojima su hermeneutika i interpretacija relativizirane otvarajući mogućnosti isto kao i zatvaranja.

Splitske izvedbene umjetnosti

Petra Kovačić je već postala ‘instalacija’ na festivalu Perforacije u svim njegovim nijansama. Bila je prisutna na prvom izdanju festivala 2009. godine sa svojim djelom Act(ing) i tijekom Perforacija u New Yorku 2011. sa istim uratkom.

Iste godine je bila dijelom festivalske Noći Performansa s hvaljenim performansom naziva Reflections. Oba djela će izvesti po prvi puta u Francuskoj, producirano od strane festivala Perforacije.

Njen rad je plastičan, na granici izvedbenih i vizualnih umjetnosti. Instalacije koje se baziraju na trenutku i stoga su izvedbene, u kojima su pokreti i dramaturgija smješteni tako da oblikuju interpretaciju pritom ostavljajući otvoren cijeli svijet mogućnosti – kao što se to događa u dobroj umjetnosti.

Room 101 je cirkuski duo Jakova Labrovića i Antonie Kuzmanić, koji je već poznat francuskoj publici kroz inovaciju i suvremeni pristup u cirkuskoj umjetnosti. Njihov performans, C8H11N02, se izgrađuje na subjektivnosti ljudi koji žive sa mentalnim invaliditetom poput šizofrenije, čineći političku točku prikazivanjem jednog od intervjua koji su napravili tijekom opsežnog istraživanja.
